Nearly 240 children from primary schools in Bad Fallingbostel, Dorfmark, and Hodenhagen attended a special puppet theater performance on September 28 and 29 at Bad Fallingbostel primary school. The Lüneburg Police Directorate’s prevention puppet theater presented the reworked play „Netz-Dschungel“ (Net Jungle), an hour-long performance designed to teach young people about safe internet use.
The updated theatrical production addresses current dangers children face online, including AI-generated images and the use of apps such as Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram. Through playful storytelling, the roughly ten-year-old students learned about the consequences of sharing personal information, photographs, and home addresses with strangers online.
The performance aimed to strengthen the children’s media literacy and encourage responsible use of digital media. During a question-and-answer session, the children demonstrated thoughtful engagement with the topic—some even expressed a wish that their parents would put their phones away more often during family meals at home.
In the coming weeks, police officers from local police stations will follow up with each class to reinforce the lessons. Working together with the children, they will develop and deepen important rules for safe internet use.
